February Member of the Month

The first of the month and another day to celebrate our incredible KSCFam. Our February MOM is Adam Beitz. Adam has been spreading his South Carolinian charm amongst all our class times throughout the week. With his consistency and hard work Adam achieved his first Muscle-Up in January. Learn a bit about Adam below and give him some props when you see him in the box next.

My primary athletic background comes from playing football and baseball in high school. I played intramural sports during my undergrad at Clemson University, but otherwise didn't do athletic things all that much besides leg day once a semester at the university gym. When Alana and I moved to Boston, we decided to find a CrossFit gym and make exercise a constant thing in our lives. I knew several people who did CrossFit and they all really enjoyed it. I had heard that CrossFit included a lot of Cleans, which was my favorite part of lifting in high school, so I was excited to try.

I really enjoy any WOD with Cleans. I really enjoy doing heavy Cleans, Jerks, and Clean and Jerks, but despise doing them for a large volume in a WOD. My least favorite movement in CrossFit is double unders. After a morning WOD, I like to drink a protein shake made with coffee to make sure I'm fully awake after a tough WOD. Outside of CrossFit, I spend most of my time in the lab trying to get my PhD. I also enjoy cooking and going on hikes with our dog!

My primary goal in CrossFit is getting a ring Muscle Up. I recently got my first bar Muscle Up after a ton of coaching from the KSCFam a couple of Sundays ago. I've really enjoyed being a part of the KSCF community and meeting a ton of great people. I can't wait to crush it in the Open with y'all!

CrossFit Open 2022

It's that time of year again where we test our fitness based on fun and challenging workouts in the CrossFit Open. Signing up for The Open is a great way to test your fitness and General Physical Preparedness by completing and entering your score for these workouts. As the years pass and we retest these workouts, your recorded score is something you can check back on.
