July Member of the Month

The time has finally come for the man who has been wondering what it takes to become the KSCF Member of the Month. Show some love to Sid Krishnan when you see him during an evening class or maybe a weekend workout here and there. Sid has been a consistent boxmate for the last 3 years, has been hitting new personal bests while improving his proficiencies, and even challenged himself and participated in the KSCF Face Off. Take the time recognize Sid when you see him and learn a bit more about him below.

My athletic background is pretty varied. Growing up, I definitely struggled with being one of the heavier/more unathletic kids in my class in school. I discovered tennis when I was 17, and that was the first time I got really into sports. Basketball, soccer (we call it football…) and ultimate frisbee soon followed. A few years later, in undergrad, I got into running pretty seriously and ran two marathons. Despite many injuries and ups and downs, I’d still consider myself a pretty avid runner today.

First my sister, then my girlfriend (now wife!) kept telling me about how much they enjoyed CrossFit. I was pretty reluctant at first but eventually caved and decided to try it out in Evanston where I was living at the time. It made me feel simultaneously more pain and accomplishment than I thought possible. I eventually moved past the pain to (mostly) just enjoyment

My favorite WODs (unsurprisingly) are long and involve running. I think Murph probably takes top spot.

I’m still working on handstand work- somehow, getting upside down still scares me, so that’s probably my least favorite movement. That said, my goal for the remainder of 2022 is to get good at it!

My favorite post-WOD food usually involves some form of boiled eggs with a stir fry. I’m usually at 6:25 pm class, so this is also my dinner.

Outside CrossFit, I love to run, play (and watch) tennis and play my guitar. I also love being in the lab where I work, so that sort of doubles up as a hobby.

I have very specific goals I’m trying to work towards in the next few months. They include getting better at the following movements:

  • Handstands

  • Pistol Squats

  • Muscle Ups

In addition, I’m always generally trying to get stronger and more coordinated.
