🎉 June Member of the Month: Jefferson Roy 🎉

We are excited to recognize Jefferson Roy as our June Member of the Month at Kendall Square CrossFit.

Although Jeff joined KSCF in February of 2025, he has quickly become a valued part of our community. Whether he is training with the 7:15 AM crew on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday or joining us at community events, Jeff consistently brings a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and just the right amount of witty banter.

Our coaches appreciate the way Jeff approaches his training. He is always willing to challenge himself, embrace new opportunities, and put in the work needed to improve. One of our favorite moments this year was seeing him and his daughter take on Murph together and absolutely crush it.

Jeff's consistency, sense of humor, and involvement in the community have made a lasting impression in a short amount of time. We are grateful to have him as part of the KSCF family and proud to recognize him as our June Member of the Month.

Congratulations, Jeff! đź’Ş

I have always tried to be active.  In my youth during the warmer months, I was involved in soccer, volleyball, cross-country running, track, and mountain biking.  Since in Northern Ontario, Canada, it is winter season for longer than it isn’t, I did a lot of cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and curling.  One of my main motivations to do CrossFit is to maintain a level of fitness and general strength that allows me to downhill ski in the winter.

Since moving to Cambridge, I’ve tried many different fitness classes and programs.  Most recently, I was part of a Functional Fitness program at MIT Recreation for ~5 years.  This was my introduction to CrossFit type movements and WODs.  Joining KSCF was a whole new level of intensity, rigor, and movements.  I have particularly enjoyed the weightlifting movements, and I wish I had been exposed to them much earlier in my life.  I also like WODs where we row.  I’m sure it is no secret that I don’t enjoy burpees and the many variations.  For post-WOD reward, I usually have ice cream at night (extra on burpee days).  Otherwise, I try to eat healthily and have extra protein on WOD days.  One of my biggest hobbies is making food from around the world and sharing it with family and friends.

My specific goals are not very specific.  I would like to improve my technique on pretty much all movements, increase strength, increase endurance, and maybe finally do a pull-up or two.  I still feel very new to CrossFit and I thank the wonderful coaches for their attention to technique and patience for repeatedly reminding me how it should be done.

The community at KSFC has been incredibly supportive and participating alongside such high caliber athletes is both humbling and inspiring.  Thank you all for your encouragement and support!  Also, thanks for listening to the “old people” rock/metal music every now and again.
