🌟 March Member of the Month: Jon Sobo! 🌟
From the moment Jon Sobo wrapped up his On-Ramp in December 2023, he dove headfirst into classes—fully committed and ready to take on every challenge. Like many of us, he’s faced the usual obstacles, but his determination and resilience have set him apart. Instead of backing down, Jon embraces the process, asking thoughtful questions, applying coaches’ feedback, and making steady, impressive progress every single day.
His hard work is paying off, and his positive energy and perseverance have made him a valued part of our KSCF community. Whether it’s at 6 AM or evening classes, Jon shows up ready to push himself and those around him.
💥 Want to celebrate Jon? Give him a shoutout when you see him—or better yet, join him for FNL and throw down on 25.2 together! Let’s go, Sobo! 🚀🔥
I grew up playing sports which led to DIII Football at Tufts. Go Bos. Football established a strong commitment to training and taking care of my body. My favorite lift in College was Bench Press, and it's probably still Bench Press. I also get excited these days when we do Cleans & Thrusters and I'm eager to nail my first Muscle Up this year.
After school I continued to stay active via weights, running, yoga and cycling. I was always trying different things so one of the reasons I love CrossFit is the routine and simplicity - I show up and I've got a great and most of the time simple workout that will kick my butt. I've doubled down on showing up 4+ days per week to CrossFit, but still enjoy complimenting with some Yoga every Sunday. When it gets nicer I'll mix in some running, cycling, hoops and Softball too.
When I'm not pushing myself physically, I like relaxing and exploring new places. Some of my favorite activities are seeing movies, aimlessly walking around Boston, and sitting at a Cafe with a book, podcast or some music.
I joined CrossFit because a good friend Wade from Tufts encouraged me to check it out. Ironically Wade also nudged me into Technology Sales so he has shaped some pretty big elements of my life. Wade also encouraged another good friend of ours, Christian, to join CrossFit, and we all enjoy sharing workout results across the country.
Joining this community and gym has been awesome. It's also been humbling (in the best way). I love the commitment to coaching from the coaches. And I am motivated by the commitment and intensity from the members, especially the 6am and Soul Crushing Saturday crew.
