🎉 October Member of the Month: Ana Cristina 🎉
We're excited to recognize Ana as our October Member of the Month at Kendall Square CrossFit!
Since joining us in February, she has wasted no time becoming part of the KSCF family. Her infectious energy, welcoming personality, and ability to connect with just about anyone have made her a favorite among members and coaches. She's even brought friends along to experience our community, because apparently one Ana Cristina wasn't enough!
Beyond the laughs and enthusiasm, our coaches appreciate Ana Cristina's approach to training. She loves a challenge, continues to push her limits, and knows when to listen to her body. It's the balance of determination and smart training we encourage in all our athletes.
Whether she's bringing energy to the noon crew, sticking around after class to stretch and socialize, or working toward her next fitness goal, Ana embraces what KSCF is all about. Building relationships, challenging ourselves, and enjoying the people who make it worthwhile.
We're grateful Ana found her way to KSCF and has made such an impact in a short time.
Congratulations, AC! Keep bringing that infectious energy, and never lose the excitement of the 15 year old at heart we all know and love! 💪❤️

I understand myself through movement. It comes naturally to me. I fall into any physical activity, and it's always where I've found purpose, meaning and connection. It's how I channel my energy and stay centered. Growing up I swam, played baseball, tennis, went bouldering during the summers, was the team's goalie and was almost a black belt in taekwondo. Then medical school hit. I had a really hard time balancing life/medical school and went through depression. That is when I found yoga. At first I was reluctant as it didn't seem challenging enough for me, but boy… holding chair pose for 3 minutes or being silent and following your breath for 1 hour is as challenging as Neri's class on Saturdays! Years later, I came to Boston for the first time as a last year medical student. I had stopped working out and was struggling with my mental health again. I remember my roommate challenged me to hold a plank. I lasted 25 seconds, and that's when I knew I had to do something. I kept finding ways to work out, even through the pandemic. In May last year I lost my job due to funding cuts in global health. I had lost my purpose and my sense of belonging. My mind kept circling back to CrossFit. I'd always wanted to join, but I was scared. I go all in, and I didn't want an injury to keep me from moving. So I joined with one firm boundary: if something starts to hurt, I stop immediately, even if I'm having the time of my life or about to PR. Now I come here for a laugh, a smile and a challenge with my friends, a tough workout that lets me escape the actual work of the day for a while.
I love Saturdays and WODs that mix focus and strength, like overhead squats with cardio. Burpees used to be my least favorite, until I realized they're my rest period. Thrusters are still killers. I love my 12pm crew! After a WOD, I stay to stretch with Vicky, Rouzy and Jared and talk about our shenanigans. Sometimes I have my protein shake, or I eat whatever Vicky slipped into my pocket.
I'm a chronic hobby collector; finding a hobby is my hobby. Lately that's knitting (which is incredibly cool, it's so satisfying to knit your own clothes!), learning Portuguese to build on my goal of becoming a polyglot grandmother, reading a new book before bed, and stippling (a form of pointillism). I might pick up tattooing next.
My goals: rehab my back with morning stretching and core and glute work, do kipping pull-ups without a band, and get a bar muscle-up now that double unders are my new superpower. Still, the hardest WOD is sitting down at my computer to do the actual work of the day.
