🎉 February Members of the Month: Dani and Travis 🎉

At Kendall Square CrossFit, we believe that fitness is about more than workouts. It is about the relationships we build, the bonds we form, and the way we show up for one another day after day. Few people embody that belief more fully than Dani and Travis, our February Members of the Month.

Dani and Travis began their journey together here at KSCF, and over time they have become an integral part of what makes this community special. From helping develop our coaches, to Travis stepping in to coach classes when needed, to their involvement in events like FaceOff, they have consistently given their time, energy, and care to the people around them.

You can feel their impact most clearly in the small moments that matter. Welcoming new faces into the 6 am crew. Checking in on others between sets. Leading with empathy, humor, and encouragement. Their consistent hard work and genuine investment in the people around them have helped strengthen the culture we strive to create every day.

As they prepare for their next chapter, we wanted to take the opportunity to celebrate what they have helped build here. One of the best ways we can thank Dani and Travis is by recognizing them together during their final month at KSCF.

Congratulations to Dani and Travis. Thank you for helping make Kendall Square CrossFit a place where relationships are built, bonds are formed, and community comes first.

1. When you look back on your time at KSCF together, what moments or memories stand out the most for you as a pair?

• Training for Murph every year. We started dating in early 2023 and spent that spring running together, so Murph season always brings us back to the early days.

• Lingering after WODs for extra-credit abs.

• Training for and completing Hyrox Boston this year was a blast. We’ll be back for more mixed doubles Hyrox events.

Trav: When Steph printed cutouts of Dani’s face and they lived in the gym for at least a year, even made a cameo in @professor.pullups videos.

Dani: Before our relationship was “gym knowledge,” I used to walk Trav to his car after the WOD and sneak a goodbye kiss. Some 7:15ers already knew (hot gossip alert).

2. How has being part of the KSCF community influenced your relationship, both inside and outside the gym?

KSCF gave us a foundation of aligned values: accountability, hard work, prioritizing health, and supporting others. Cheering for each other in the gym naturally carries over into everyday life; we’re each other’s biggest fans.

It’s also made us deeply committed to our 5–9am routine before our 9–5 jobs. Doing something physically hard first thing makes the rest of the day’s challenges feel more manageable. On most weekdays, we both say the workout was the best part of the day.

Wherever we go, we try to drop into a new box together. It’s become a favorite tradition that keeps us exploring and moving, even on vacation. We’ve dropped into gyms in the Berkshires, the Cape, Chicago, Madrid, and Portland, Maine (our new home!).

3. Are there specific people, classes, or community events that played a meaningful role in your experience here?

• So much love for the past and present 6am-ers

• Coaches Jared, Meg, and Nery who have shown up for us every week for 5 years

• Soul-Crushing Saturday (keeping our Friday nights in check)

• Themed celebratory WODs and toasting personal milestones with Core Power in champagne flutes

Trav: Faceoffs were incredibly fun and scratched the competitve itch. Enjoy the extra room on the podium this year

Dani: When Trav dropped a 50# dumbbell on his big toe (do not recommend)

4. What is something about KSCF or its culture that you know you will genuinely miss when you move away?

Don’t make us cry! The people, obviously. It’s been a privilege to work out here for nearly five years and watch workout buddies turn into close friends.

Trav: Soul-Crushing Saturdays.

Dani: My pull-up bar. Probably.

5. How has training alongside this community helped shape the way you approach fitness, consistency, or challenges together?

KSCF, and CrossFit more broadly, has shaped how we grow, challenge ourselves, and build community as adults. It’s made us coachable, gritty, and consistent. As a result, we are better athletes in the gym and more empathetic, resilient people outside of it. Those traits show up everywhere in our lives because, as Trav loves to say, “the way you do anything is the way you do everything.

6. Important question. Who is more competitive during workouts, and who pretends they are not competitive at all?

We don’t think we’ve fooled anyone, but Trav is more openly competitive. You’ll catch him cuddling a trash can post-WOD about once per quarter. Dani mostly gets mad when someone writes Rx on the board but didn’t actually do every movement Rx.

That said, while Trav’s leaderboard times are impressive, we’ve found way more joy in watching classmates hit big and small wins. When you keep showing up, you get better … and it’s incredibly cool to witness. People forget: Dani touched a barbell for the first time in July 2021 at the prime age of 27. At the end of the day, it’s always you vs. you.

7. If you could leave one note on the whiteboard for the KSCF community, what would it say?

Trav: Chase the stronger, better, faster version of yourself every day.

Dani: We are so blessed to be tired from pursuing challenges we choose
